MARKETABILITY - Businesses worldwide are realizing the real benefits in making their operations more sustainable, both for the fiscal attributes and the impression it has on their customers.  Studies have shown that consumers are attracted to companies that exhibit a commitment to ‘greening’ their business model.

STATE REBATES AND FEDERAL TAX CREDITS – There is currently a production based incentive (PBI) offered through the California Solar Initiative (CSI) for commercial solar system installations.  As part of this CSI program, not only will you save money by reducing the amount of grid energy you use, but PG&E will actually pay you for each unit of energy (kWh) your solar system produces.  There is also a Federal Tax Credit (ITC) available in which you will be refunded an amount equal to 30% of your business’s solar system investment.    

HEDGE AGAINST RISING ELECTRICITY RATES – The cost of utility grid electricity continues to rise by about 6% annually.  And as you know, the more energy you use, the more you pay for each energy unit (called a kilowatt hour or kWh).  A commercial solar system offsets the most expensive energy first, so a system which is designed to offset 50% of your grid energy consumption can offset 80% of your bill cost.

 REAL RETURN ON INVESTMENT – Most commercial solar systems pay for themselves in real cash utility expense savings in 5-10 years.  And that doesn’t account for the real property value increase your property should realize.
